Kristy: Last weekend I went to my very first NHL game! My school district does a promotional night with most of the major sports teams in Denver, during which you can score super cheap tickets. Andy, Danielle and I decided to take advantage of the offer to see what this hockey thing is all about. We started the evening off right by meeting some hockey-crazy neighbors at the Blue Bonnet while they tried to give us a crash course in rules, history and passion for the game. Shortly after some tasty steak chimichangas (my neighbor raves about them), we headed over to the Pepsi Center to catch the pre-game warm ups. We sat through 2 periods, watching the teams ricochet the puck off the sides of the rink and even put it into the goal once (the Avs scored). We decided to get up to stretch our legs in between the second and third period. After walking around a bit, we came to the realization that we just weren't interested enough to go back for the third period! Thus, we went out for ice cream. 45 minutes and three McFlurries later, the game ended; the Avs won... with the same score. Maybe we'll try going again sometime. For now, though, our passion for the sport can be expressed through the following mathematical statement: One ice cream is greater than three periods of hockey. Just don't tell my neighbors!
In other news, last week was extremely eventful for my team at school. We wrapped up our Earth Science Field Study and cheered (or booed) the social studies teacher as he engaged in a push up contest with a student! The kid won, but not until after Cory completed 86 push ups. We were impressed; he didn't really stand a chance against the kid who has two black belts and can do back flips from a stand still!

Posted by Kristy: I had a very eventful fall break last week! We hung out with my dad in downtown Denver, got stormed out of a camping trip with Karen, and visited Leavenworth, Kansas (insert prison joke here). Back in the flatlands, I attended foxhunt events, watched a movie at the Bowli domicile, disciplined my mom's ornery young horses, and chilled at the Rue Family Farm. I can't say that I returned to school Monday morning fresh and ready to go... but I'm not complaining!
